Ian Bell wants to help young England batsmen ? Cricket News Roundup ? Part II ? October 10, 2012
England?s top-order batsman Ian Bell has said that he still has a lot of cricket left in him, and is looking forward to helping the young English batting order develop into a formidable unit.
"I'm hoping I have another five or six years at the highest level to play," said the right-handed batsman while speaking to a British Daily on Tuesday. "As a senior player I want to help the team develop and be a major part of meeting those challenges," he added further.
The 30-year-old Warwickshire batsman is one of the most senior players in England?s current squad. Since making his international debut in 2004, the right-hander has established himself as a regular member in the Test side. To date he has played 80 Tests and averages around 47 with the bat in five-day cricket. Though he has been less successful in the ODI format, he has an impressive batting average of 36.02.
Veteran Pakistan all-rounder Abdul Razzaq has said that he will respond to PCB?s latest show-cause notice only after consulting with his lawyers.
"I will see the show-cause notice and consult with my lawyer before deciding on my future course of action," said Razzaq. "I?ll be looking into my options before deciding what to do about the notice," he added.
The 32-year-old hard-hitting all-rounder was issued the notice after publically criticising national T20 skipper Mohammad Hafeez for dropping him for the World T20 semi-final against Sri Lanka, last Thursday, in favour of left-arm seamer Sohail Tanvir. Pakistan lost the knock-out fixture to the hosts by 16 runs, and the all-rounder reckons he could have been a match-winner had the skipper not dropped him.
Cricket Australia named Brad Hodge as the captain and coach of its seven-member squad for the Hong Sixes Cricket Tournament later this month.
The seven-member squad was picked up by the National Talent Manager Greg Chappell, in consultation with Cricket Australia?s National Selection Panel. "Hodge, one of the top batsmen in last season's inaugural KFC T20 Big Bash League, will lead a selection of explosive Australian cricketers in the two-day tournament," Cricket Australia said in a statement on Wednesday.
The eighteenth edition of the two-day tournament, featuring 12 teams from around the world, will be held at the Kowloon Cricket Club from October 27 to 28. Australia had won the fast-paced event in 2010, when David Warner and Ryan Carters steered the side to victory by smashing 48 runs in one over, in the final.
