Faculty Position in Voice ? Department of Performing Arts | Education

Job Description The Department of Performing Arts seeks to fill a full-time, term faculty position to teach undergraduate courses in voice and text and to serve as vocal coach for Emerson Stage productions. Term faculty positions are one-year, non-tenure track appointments, renewable for up to five years depending on the needs of the department and performance of the appointee. The appointment is for the 2013-14 academic year beginning August 28, 2013.

Certification in the voice training methodology of Kristin Linklater is essential, and the ideal candidate will show familiarity with other significant voice, speech, or other training methodology such as Skinner, Lessac, Feldenkrais, Alexander Technique, Rodenburg or Berry. In addition to Certification in Linklater Voice, the candidate must have experience teaching at the college or university level, and have experience as vocal coach for professional and/or university theatre productions. The ideal candidate will be a practicing professional artist; hold professional affiliations (AEA, SAG, ATHE, VASTA, etc.); and be an energetic and collegial collaborator. Master?s or terminal degree in Acting, Voice, or a related area preferred.

Additional responsibilities will include advising and mentoring undergraduate acting majors, serving on departmental and college committees, coaching Emerson Stage productions, sharing in the recruiting and auditioning responsibilities for the undergraduate BA and BFA acting programs, sharing in the collegial development of curriculum in the Performing Arts department, and advancing the academic and professional reputation of the institution. The nominal course teaching load for the position is three courses per semester.
