Rhea Perlman and Danny Devito are calling it quits after three decades of marriage. A representative for the couple has confirmed the separation, but refused to offer any details about why the celebrity couple decided to end their relationship. The pair married in 1982 and have three children together.
DeVito, 67, and Perlman, 64, met in 1970, when Rhea happened to go watch the off-Broadway plan, The Shrinking Bride, which featured Danny, according to TMZ. The couple began dating not long after the chance meeting at the play and eventually moved in together. Danny and Rhea were officially a couple for almost a dozen years before they exchanged vows and became man and wife.
During a People magazine interview in 1983, Rhea stated that Danny was a lot more sexy and fun than other men she had dated in the past. The actress also noted his warmth and sense of humor among his most endearing qualities, ABC News reports. When asked about the secret to a long marriage many anniversaries later, Danny at first noted that the most important ingredient to a successful relationship was love, but also stated, ?who knows? and that the true secret to success was to try to never figure it out.
The DeVito and Perlman pairing is often regarded as one of Hollywood?s longest-lasting marriages. The separating celebrities both starred in the 1996 hit, Matilda, IMDB notes. The couple founded Jersey Films, the production company behind the hit films, Garden State and Pulp Fiction, People magazine notes. The couple?s children include Lucy, 29, Grace, 27, and Daniel, 25.
