Information Systems Storage Administrator at Blizzard (Irvine, California, United States)

Blizzard Entertainment is looking for a storage administrator for the internal implementation team.? The implementation team is the deployment arm of internal IT.? Our main goal is to release infrastructure that is highly available, high performing, and meets our customer?s needs.? We work comprehensively with the internal engineering and operations teams to guarantee that we are in alignment with the business? needs and goals while adhering to best practices. The storage administrator will be responsible for implementing and managing Enterprise NAS / SAN / Back-up solutions.? The ideal candidate will meet the requirements below while also being enthusiastic, innovative, efficient, and collaborative.

Responsibilities

  • Storage provisioning.
  • Storage Area Network (zoning, alerting, monitoring, analysis, and solution identification).
  • Deploys, configures, maintains, and documents enterprise storage area network and network attached storage components.
  • Responds to incident management tickets related to storage capacity, performance, access, configurations modifications, etc.
  • Monitors, escalates, and remediate NAS and SAN device / application (access, performance, events) alerts to identify / potential incidents. Escalates and follows incidents with management to ensure capacity management, data storage integrity, and performance service level objectives are met.
  • Ensuring the backup jobs are running and completing within the appropriate timeframe.
  • Participates in design and deployment of storage requirements for enterprise applications.

Requirements

  • A minimum of 1 year experience implementing and managing EMC NAS/SAN, Isilon NAS, and/or Netapp NAS/SAN
  • A minimum of 1 year experience designing, performance analyzing, and capacity planning Enterprise Storage Systems
  • A minimum of 1 year experience designing, performance analyzing, and capacity planning Enterprise Backup Infrastructures
  • Familiar with the following:
  • Configuring and managing Brocade, Cisco, and / or any other Fabric switches
  • Enterprise Class Backup Systems; e.g., Symantec Netbackup
  • Large Enterprise Modular Libraries; e.g., StorageTek
  • Data migration and replication methodologies and tools
  • Windows DFS
  • Solid understanding of the following protocols; e.g., CIFS, NFS, FC, iSCSI, and NDMP
  • Excellent technical problem-solving skills
  • Excellent customer support skills
  • Excellent organization and time management skills
  • Proven oral and written communication skills
  • Able to write scripts, and / or programs using Batch, Bash, Perl, Powershell, Python, etc.
  • Able to prioritize, address, and follow through on multiple tasks in a dynamic, fast-paced environment
  • Able to work independently, and / or with other members of a team
  • Available to be on-call for emergencies; able to work weekends if needed

  • Experience working in a heterogeneous environment (NAS / SAN)
  • Experience in a large-scale computing environment
  • Experience working with UNIX / Linux virtual filesystems
  • Knowledge of ITIL practices and experience with their application in an IT department
  • Experience in a fast-paced environment
  • Familiar with fundamental computer science concepts
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field
  • EMC or Netapp certifications (EMCSA, EMCISA, EMCBSA, NCIE, NCDA, etc?)
  • A passion for video games and films
